The Passive House

The term "passive house" is the term for a building that uses no more than 15 kWh (equivalent to 1.5 liters of heating oil) per year and square meter through intelligent planning and execution.

MORE CONVENIENCE - LESS ENERGY!

The Passive House is characterized by particularly high cosiness with a very low energy consumption. On the outside, passive houses do not differ from conventional houses, since the term "passive house" is an energy standard and not a particular construction method.

HISTORY

In the last decades, intensive work has been devoted to the development of energy-efficient and sustainable concepts for buildings. This has resulted in the most different ecological buildings - only a few examples: straw ball house, low energy house, passive house, plus energy house.
The passive house is a further development of the low-energy house. There are passive houses as wood, solid and ready houses.
The first passive house was built in 1991 in Darmstadt, Germany. In the meantime, there are terraced houses, office buildings, schools, kindergartens and apartment buildings, and even a factory in this construction. Up to now (2010) more than 1,000 passive houses have been built in Austria.

KLIMA:AKTIV BUILDING STANDARD

The construction or purchase of a house is for most people the greatest investment of their lives. Often, however, it is difficult to evaluate and compare the quality of different offers.
For this reason, a neutral quality mark was developed in the form of the klima: aktiv criteria catalog, which assesses not only energy efficiency, but also aspects such as planning and execution quality, building materials and construction as well as comfort and room air quality.
Each residential building, which reaches at least 900 points according to the standard of the klima: aktiv criteria catalog, may call klima: aktiv passive house.
