Short Description: |
Presentation of the initial situation and the need for the project: In the course of the energy transition, the energy system is becoming more dynamic, more small-scale and thus more complex. The greatest associated challenge for companies in the energy sector is digitization. As a concrete measure, the present project focuses on technologies that are subsumed under the term artificial intelligence (AI). AI applications enable optimization in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. AI can become a key technology in solving complex processes of the energy transition in terms of flexibility, resilience and security. To exploit AI potentials, companies need to work on three task areas: i) Recognize the importance of quality and quantity of the database, ii) Identify concrete use cases, iii) Build AI technology competence and infrastructure. Outline the planned goals and benefits of the project: Although a passionate discussion around the possibilities of AI seems to be omnipresent, at the same time there is great uncertainty characterized by a lack of expertise. In companies, this hinders the development of sustainable AI applications for the strategic use of data. This is particularly challenging for SMEs. Therefore, the FHTW is developing a future-oriented and customized qualification measure in the planned project. Specifically, the aim is to convey basic understanding and classification of AI technologies as well as to highlight available potentials of concrete use cases. The aim of the Innovation Camp KITE is to make the potential of AI strategically usable. Participating SMEs should be able to assess their data in terms of suitable quantity and quality, identify concrete use cases and implement AI prototypes. To strengthen sustainability, other key objectives are: (i) increasing the research, development and innovation competence of the participating companies, (ii) networking and establishing sustainable cooperations via the project and (iii) using the contents in teaching. | |||
