In this project, the feasibility of a community storage facility in Großschönau was investigated. Based on the project results of the funded project "Eigenlastcluster" and other projects, economic, technical, legal/regulatory, organizational and societal challenges were identified and solutions were proposed. Great importance was attached to the visibility as well as the involvement of relevant stakeholders - among them representatives of different climate and energy model regions - in order to increase the general awareness, the probability of implementation as well as the multiplicability of the developed solutions.

The framework conditions in Großschönau made it possible to realize a showcase project with high visibility and exemplary function in the region and beyond, which goes beyond the obligatory technical/legal/economic investigations and enables innovative solutions with high social acceptance and a high probability of implementation by actively involving relevant stakeholders.

Significant innovations compared to the state of the art are:

• Involvement of relevant stakeholders, first and foremost prosumers and consumers, throughout the entire course of the project
• Conducting an idea/creativity workshop with regional stakeholders and lateral thinkers to develop and discuss new, innovative approaches to different challenges
• Developing concepts to increase the visibility of such flagship projects and, consequently, the acceptance of the population
• Identification of the requirements of the relevant stakeholders and, based on this, development of non - or not exclusively profit-oriented cooperation models
• Development of suitable management and charging models that allow fair and equal use for all stakeholders, taking into account individual requirements and interests.
