Energy Community Großschönau

An energy community with one generating plant and 3 consumers was being initiated in the municipality of Großschönau. This generating plant is located on the roof of an agricultural holding (6000 laying hens + promotion of organic eggs) and possesses a power of 25kWp. The local grocery store ADEG and 2 private households function as consumers.

The following goals were pursued:

• The local population is going to become an active participant in the energy revolution.
• Locally produced energy contributes to the regional added-value.
• Energy communities support each other achieve climate goals.
• Supra-regional energy transport will be reduced. This is an especially important key-factors within the future energy system and for plans of network expansion.
• Regions and municipalities will become more autonomous.
• Reduced network fees for members.
• Role model effect and motivation for future imitators.
