| Project Description | The world is facing a climate crisis and the human influence on climate development is well known and scientifically proven. The Republic of Austria has set itself the goal of being climate-neutral by 2040 at the latest. This also requires ambitious targets at municipal level. In view of this development, the municipality of Zwettl has therefore decided to take action with the ambitious goal of being climate-neutral by 2035. The aim of the planned project is to develop a climate neutrality roadmap for Zwettl together with the relevant stakeholders, the municipal administration and the general public, which sets out a clear and realisable path for the municipality to become climate neutral by 2035. A unanimous decision by the municipal council on the climate neutrality roadmap could also officially legitimise it as a central document. The central result of the project is a climate neutrality roadmap for Zwettl, which includes the following topics:
For the first time, the municipality now has an actionable roadmap for phasing out fossil fuels. This and the measures recommended in it form the framework and basis for future political decisions and resolutions on the path to climate neutrality. |
