Klima- und Energiemodellregion Lainsitztal

In the school years of 2020/21 and 2021/22, students and teachers of three elementary schools and two middle schools within KEM Lainsitztal, focused on the topic “Renewable Energies”, with emphasis on the entire KEM Lainsitztal.

In a project titled “Self-sufficient into the future: Energy investigators Lainsitztal”, surveys, workshops, lectures, field trips and experiments around the topic of renewable energies, were being conducted across schools.

Through surveys, students were able to explore current and future energy potentials in the region Lainsitztal. Students collected data on the current production and consumption of renewable energies, as it pertains to large scale participation of affected citizens and authorities (e.g., parents, municipalities, entrepreneurs, clubs). This was done via a mixed method approach and various measures.

At the end of the project, students know energy producers of renewable energies in the region Lainsitztal, which kind of heating and power supply their parents rely on, possess awareness of resources within the region and have put thought into further courses of action.
