Why are seasonal and organic foods climate-friendly? Why should we buy regional products? How can we avoid unnecessary waste? And how do we connect diet and consumption with climate and energy?

The project goal was to establish answers to these questions, in order to promote awareness in students, as to how diet and consumption have an impact on our environment and climate. Creating motivation for a sustainable diet, intentional consumption and a climate-friendly lifestyle were top priorities.

Various practical methods were used to reach said goal, such as field trips to organic businesses, workshops on baking bread, climate protection picnics, practical exercises on conserving foods, chemical explorations or incentives for drinking more tap water and avoiding excess waste.

Next to exploring basics around climate change and energy, students were able to investigate energy consumption in school and develop measures for saving energy.
